Stanley Berkeley Edward 'Dai' Davis from Mitcham, Surrey, enlisted into the Armed Forces on 1 September 1939 having previously worked as a Butcher. He volunteered from his Regiment for the Commandos and was attached to No.2 Commando. Lance Sergeant Davis, 3 Troop, was reported missing on 28 March 1942 after Operation Chariot at St Nazaire, later found to have been wounded and taken prisoner of war. He embarked on HMS Campbeltown for the raid. Post war member of the Commando Association from Surrey.
