Robert Douglas Grant Raisbeck, an Accountancy Clerk from Liverpool, enlisted on 24 April 1939 joining the 2nd Battalion Liverpool Scottish T.A. He volunteered for and served in No.4 Independent Company and later 'B' Company No.1 Special Service Bn., (No.2 Commando).
In December 1940 he was part of a Detachment that embarked for Malta as part of Force 'X' for Folbot operations from submarines. They were temporarily designated on their arrival as No.1 Section Egyptian Detail under naval command at the base of the 10th (Malta) Submarine Flotilla. Corporal Raisbeck was reported missing, later confirmed a prisoner of war having been captured Gulf of Sirte, coast of Libya, on 30 July 1941. Liberated 1945.
