Douglas Fitton 2 Commando

In 1939 Douglas Fitton, a Labourer from Leeds, resided with his wife in Keighley. He enlisted into the K.O.S.B.'s. later volunteering for the Commandos. Private Fitton served in 'A' Section, No.1 Sub-Section of 5 Troop No.2 Commando. In 1942 during No.2 Commando's stay in Ayr Private Fitton was billeted with a family in Galloway Drive, Ayr. In 1943 he deployed with No.2 Commando for operations in the Mediterranean theatre of war. Operational service with the Commando included Gibraltar, Sicily, Italy, the Dalmation Islands (coastal Yugoslavia) and Albania. Member of the Commando Association from Leeds.
