Ben Fryer was a Clerk from Garston, Liverpool, prior to enlisting and joining 'B' Company of the 2nd Battalion Liverpool Scottish T.A. In July 1940 he volunteered for Special Service and was attached to No.4 Independent Company. February 1941 absorbed into No.2 Commando on the disbandment of the Independent Companies. Served in 5 Troop 'A' Section, No.2 Sub-Section. Billeted at 3 Barn's Crescent, Ayr, when No.2 Commando were based there before overseas deployment. Service included Gibraltar, Sicily, Italy, Yugoslavia, Dalmatian Islands, and Albania. Member of the Commando Association from Liverpool.
