Godfrey Vasey 3 Commando
Sergeant Godfrey Vasey, married and from Worthing, was reported missing during early Italian beach reconnaissance at Bova Marina, a year later being confirmed killed in action. He joined the Army in 1939 and was evacuated from Dunkirk. Godfrey volunteered for the Commandos in 1941 and his commando service included Vaagso, Dieppe, North Africa and Malati Bridge at Sicily.
Godfrey Vasey had moved to Worthing in 1930 from Devonshire. He married Miss Ayda Gibson Johnstone Philips of Largs in March 1942 at St. John's Church, Largs.
