Stanley Martin, a Plasterer from Newcastle-on-Tyne, enlisted into the Royal Marines on 28 February 1940. He joined 45RM Commando sometime after their formation in 1943. Marine Martin was captured and a prisoner of war 9 June 1944 during operations at Sallenelles, Normandy.
