John Woods, a Labourer from Liverpool 5, enlisted into the Armed Forces 1 July 1938, later volunteering for the commandos. Lance Corporal Woods, No.3 Commando, was wounded and a prisoner of war 23 January 1945 during operations in Holland. Rejoined his Regiment 21 October 1946. Discharged from military service 13 March 1947.
