John Frederick Lamb was employed in the Cotton Trade before enlisting on 29 January 1941 which was his 18th birthday. He volunteered for the Commandos in 1942 joining the newly raised Royal Marine Commando. Marine Lamb was captured on 11 April 1945 during Operation Roast at Lake Comacchio, Italy.
