John Connolly from Birkenhead enlisted into the Armed Forces in April 1939. After volunteering for the commandos he was attached to No.6 Commando. Private Connolly was reported missing 26 February 1943 during operations near El Aroussa, Tunisa, (Battle of Steamroller Farm), later confirmed a prisoner of war.
