John McMaster Boyd, a Labourer from Ballymena, Co. Antrim, enlisted 29 December 1938. After volunteering for the commandos he was attached to No.4 Commando. Fusilier Boyd was reported wounded and missing 19 August 1942 during operations at Dieppe, France, later found to be a prisoner of war. Escaped 8 February 1944. Recaptured 20 February 1944.
