John Stanley Nicholls, a Dairyman from Birmingham, enlisted into the Armed Forces 27 June 1940 later volunteering for commando service. Lance Corporal Nicholls, No.6 Commando, was reported missing 19 August 1942 during operations at Dieppe later confirmed wounded and a prisoner of war.
