Ernest Clift from Devoran, Truro, was employed in carpentry work in 1939 before enlisting. After volunteering for special service he was attached to No.3 Commando.  Reported missing 14 July 1943, later confirmed a prisoner of war, during operations at Agnone, Sicily, and the bridge at Malati (3 Commando Bridge).
