Captain Edward Roger Wakefield RA was killed whilst attached to 2 Special Service Brigade during Operation Flounced involving Nos. 40 and 43RM Commando and Partisan forces, against German forces on the island of Brac. Posthumous Mention in Despatches 1945.
Son of Capt. Edward Marcus Wakefield and of Edith Miriam Wakefield (nee Andre), of Bathampton, Bath, Somerset. B.A. (Oxon.): Christ Church College. Barrister-at-Law: Gray's Inn.

15 May 1939 enlisted in the 86th (Honourable Artillery Company) Heavy Anti Aircraft Regiment of the Royal Artillery (Territorial Army)
March 1940 posted to the 168 Officer Cadet Training Unit at Aldershot.

March 1941 appointed Field Security Officer for HQ Special Service Brigade.

Wakefield Scholarships.
In 1989 a £300,000 gift to set up scholarships for post-graduate study was made to the Institute of Criminology at Cambridge University. Mrs. Pricilla Mitchell gave the money in memory of her brother, Capt. Roger Wakefield, a barrister killed in action in Yugoslavia in 1944. Two annual awards will be made to students from Canada, Australia and New Zealand. [CA Newsletter 89].
