Donald Hawley from Birmingham was employed on a milk round before enlisting into the Armed Forces aged 18 on 27 October 1940. He volunteered for special service and was attached to No.3 Commando. Private Hawley was reported missing 14 July 1943 during operations at Agnone, Sicily, and Malati bridge, later confirmed a prisoner of war.
