Denis Lovell, a Railway Clerk from Surrey, enlisted into the Royal Marines on 30 September 1941 later joining 4 Special Service Brigade Signals. He was captured and a prisoner of war on 7 June 1944 during operations at Port-en-Bessin, Normandy.
