Marine Alan Coford, B troop, was wounded and captured on 11 June 1944 during operations at Rots and le Hamel, Normandy. He spent 3 weeks in different hospitals in France before being moved to a prisoner of war camp. Alan Edward Coford was employed as a Dock Clerk with the Port of London Authority before enlisting into the Royal Marines on 28 August 1941.
