Jack Henry Chandler, a demolition worker from London, enlisted into the Royal Marines on 28 August 1941 later joining 46RM Commando. Marine Chandler, B troop, was captured and a prisoner of war on 11 June 1944 during operations at Rots and le Hamel, Normandy.
