Eric Arthur Hardy was a Police Constable serving at the County Police Station in Winchester in 1939. He volunteered for the commandos in 1942 joining a Police Intake at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre).
Gunner Hardy was wounded twice during operations with No.3 Commando. The first was on 14 July 1943 at Agnone, Sicily, and the bridge at Malati (3 Commando Bridge); the second on 6 June 1944 at Normandy, France. Post war member of the Commando Association residing at time of his death in Marlborough, Wiltshire.
