William Henry Davies enlisted into the Armed Forces on 12 February 1932 aged 16. In WWII he volunteered for the commandos. Warrant Officer 1 William Davies, Regimental Sergeant Major of No.6 Commando, was reported missing 26 February 1943 during operations in North Africa (Battle of Steamroller Farm), later confirmed a prisoner of war.
