Amos Fairbridge, a Labourer from Sunderland, enlisted on 15 January 1941 later volunteering for the Commandos. Fusilier Fairbridge served in No.4 Commando before embarking for the Middle East with No.7 Commando as part of Layforce. He was reported missing during operations at Cyrenaica on 20 April 1941 (Bardia Raid) later found to be a prisoner of war.
