Marine Ronald Simmons 40 Commando
Ronald Simmons, a Metal Trimmer from Essex, enlisted into the Royal Marines on 14 February 1939. He served on HMS Southampton engaged in North Sea Patrols before volunteering in 1942 for the newly raised RM Commando. Marine Simmons was wounded and a prisoner of war on 19 August 1942 during operations at Dieppe France. Post war served in Palestine, rank Corporal.
