Charles Salter, a Salesman from Gillingham, Kent, enlisted into The Buffs on 16 May 1940 and later volunteered for the Commandos. Lance Corporal Salter, No.1 Section of 6 Troop No.3 Commando, was reported missing 19 August 1942 during operations at Dieppe, later found to be a prisoner of war. Post war member of the Commando Association residing New Eltham SE London.
