Captain James Nuttall was attached to 48 RM Commando 'Z' troop and was Mentioned in Despatches* in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in North-West Europe. He commanded 'Z' Troop from August 1944 at Sallanelles, Normandy, and during Operation Infatuate at Walcheren in November 1944 after which he was promoted Temporary Major remaining with 'Z' Troop during its operations in Holland.
Awarded the Bronze Cross conferred by Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands**.
