Marine James Burke died during operations at Sallenelles, Normandy, France. Son of James and Winifred Burke, of Widnes, Lancashire.
James Michael Burke was educated at St. Maries School, Widnes. After leaving school he was employed at High Speed Steel Alloys Ltd., before joing the Armed Forces on 5 October 1942. His active service in the Royal Marines included participation in the North African campaign and the invasion of Sicily.
