Lieutenant Colonel James Manners DSO, Officer Commanding 40RM Commando, died during operations on the enemy held island of Brac, Yugoslavia.
Joined the commando on its formation in February 1942. Commanding Officer after the Dieppe raid. Appointed Distinguished Service Order for gallant and distinguished service in operations leading to the capture of Termoli. Educated at Cheltenham College. Son of Herbert Cecil and Dorothy Manners; husband of Pamela Honor Manners, of Vaucluse, New South Wales, Australia.
