Marine Gordon Boothroyd, 'E' Troop, died during operations in Normandy, France. Youngest son of Edgar and Mabel Boothroyd, of Scar Lane, Milnsbridge, Huddersfield.
Educated at Crow Lane Senior School, Milnsbridge. Employed prior to enlisting at Messrs John Crowther and Sons Ltd., Milnsbridge. Played football with Milnsbridge Y.M.C.A. football team. His brother Geoffrey serving with 40RM Commando also died in the war.
