Alfred Allen Webb, a Shop Assistant from Ayr, enlisted in the Royal Marines 23 November 1937. At some time after August 1943 he joined 45RM Commando. Lance Corporal Webb was captured on 8 June 1944 at Sallenelles, Normandy, and remained a prisoner of war until May 1945.
