John Leonard Plackett from Croydon was employed with ICI as a Decorator / Bakelite Blender before enlisting into the Armed Forces on 20 June 1940. After volunteering he was attached to No.3 Commando. Lance Corporal Plackett was reported missing on 14 July 1943 at Agnone, Sicily, and the bridge at Malati (3 Commando Bridge), later confirmed prisoner of war.
