James Frederick Meiners, a Labourer from Essex, enlisted into the Royal Marines 28 August 1939 later joining 40RM Commando sometime after its formation in 1942. Marine Meiners was captured and a prisoner of war on 3 June 1944 during operations on Brac Island in the Adriatic.
