Harry Broad, a Labourer and Pipe Layer from Devonport, Plymouth, enlisted 11 July 1930. Private Broad volunteered for the Commandos in WW2 and was attached to No.7 Commando embarking for the Middle East as part of 'A' Battalion Layforce. He was reported missing during operations at Crete, later found to have been captured on 1 June 1941 and a prisoner of war.
