Original member of 2 SBS joining from No.6 Commando 101 Troop. Took part in the Oran Harbour operation. Mentioned in Despatches for gallant and distinguished service. With 'Z' SBS when they formed in the Mediterranean. Participated in submarine patrols. Later served HQ No.2 S.B.S.
Recommendation
"Oran Landings, an assault on the port by H.M.S. Walney and H.M.S. Hartland. 8th November 1942. This man formed one of the crew of No.2 Folbot launched from H.M.S. Walney. Though forced by intense A.A. fire to seek the shelter of some barges, he nevertheless tried to attack a Simon class destroyer but was unable to do so owing to our own light Naval forces in the area. In the confusion and trying condtions, this man displayed courage and determination of a high standard."
