Obituary in Commando Association newsletter 115
All concerned will be saddened by the death of Ronnie Williamson in hospital in June, last. For well over a decade Ronnie, had been a tireless worker for the Association, as Commando Representative for Scotland and the Chairman of the Scottish commandos. He fought vigorously for well over a decade against development at or near the Commando Memorial and he always insisted that the terrain close to the memorial should be left exactly as it was when the Commandos trained in the area. His generosity, too, knew no bounds and it was an open secret (most of Ronnie's secrets were anything but) that his personal intervention and donation shortly before his death, enabled a memorial to a Commando VC to be successfully completed. Above all, Ronnie wanted that the Commando war dead should be commemorated and their names recorded for posterity somewhere close to his beloved Commando memorial. Steps are being taken to see that this is done. Condolences are offered to his widow. Bettv and all the family.
