Lieutenant Norman Rose, aged 18, embarked with 47RM Commando June 1944 for operations at Port en Besin, Normandy. Wounded November 1944 during operations at Walcheren, Holland. Previously served in 40RM Commando. Post war senior nuclear physicist and achieved a doctorate. 2016 residing Brecon awarded the Legion d'Honneur (France).
