Leonard Fleetwood from Bristol enlisted on 19 September 1939, previously employed in a Tannery. He later volunteered for commando service and was attached to No.7 Commando which would go on to form 'A' Battalion of Layforce and embark for the Middle East. Private Fleetwood was captured 1 June 1941 during operations in Crete.
